Pectoralis Major Muscle Injuries: Tendon Avulsion aka "Pec Tears"
Tendon avulsions are the most common severe pectoralis injury
Most commonly injured during the flat bench press but prevalence generally rare amongst population
Mode of injury: Mechanical disadvantage during the amortization phase during maximal eccentric to concentric contraction
Mechanism: Injury occurs at low speed when humerus is abducted and externally rotated during last 30°of ROM when sternal head fibers are under a large amount of stress
